When Graffeg contacted me with the text for this children’s book and said they wanted something a bit Heath Robinsonesque, I couldn’t resist. Julia Hubery’s story describe’s a young girl’s attempt to get her community taking by creating increasingly elaborate inventions. Full page pen-and-ink illustrations on each page, digitally coloured.

Painbusters

The Pain Team at Alder Hey Hospital do a brilliant job keeping young patients comfortable during their stay. A while back I worked with their Young Person’s Forum to develop an award-winning booklet describing the different pain relief and demystifying procedures. In 2022 they wanted this turned into an animation- here it is!

Food Waste

Another musical project, teaming up with the great Purple Noise Studio to encourage people to save money by keeping their food out of the bin. Commissioned by Dorset Council, this parody of Abba’s ‘Money, Money, Money’ features singing vegetables, stop motion stripping potatoes and a singing purse.

I teamed up with the talented Purple Noise Studio to create this catchy song about what not to flush for Litter Free Dorset. This reworking of Flash by Queen features chorus-line rats, singing lavatories and tampon paddleboards. Remember, only paper, pee and poo go down the loo!

Where investors keep their money can profoundly influence the world around us. By investing wisely, it is possible to put people & planet first, as well as making money. In 2020, Share Action commissioned this short animation to promote the Responsible Investment Bill, requiring investors to be more transparent and accountable.

Featuring a handmade cardboard fruit machine, where the jackpot is putting people and planet before profit.

Barbecues Burn More Than Bangers

In the summer of 2020, Litter Free Dorset launched a campaign to highlight the dangers of illegal barbecues on heathland. By the time of the launch in May there had already been several devastating wildfires on Dorset’s heaths with serious damage to the ecosystem, wildlife & public safety. To reduce the risk of fires and litter, Litter Free Dorset came up with the idea of a funky dog, brought to life in this short animation urging people to barbecue responsibly & help #spreadlovenotwildfires.

A Cuddle & a Cwtch

Cwtch rhymes with butch and is the Welsh word for hug. I was asked to illustrate this beautiful poem by Sarah Kilbride, describing this Welsh word for a whole lotta love and how best to share it. The book is published by Graffeg and each spread features a pen & ink illustration alongside Sarah’s text, hand written by the author.
